Payment terms deserve the same attention as flights and hotels. An Umrah package can look perfect until a traveler needs to change dates, cancel a room or understand why part of a payment cannot be returned.
Before booking, ask the agency to explain the financial terms in writing.
1. How much is the initial deposit?
Ask whether the first payment is a fixed amount or a percentage of the total package price. Also ask what the agency does with that payment—for example, whether it is used to secure flights, hotels or other services.
2. When is the remaining balance due?
Write down the balance deadline. A quote is easier to budget when you know the full payment schedule instead of only the first amount due.
3. When does money become non-refundable?
Different travel components can have different rules. A flight ticket, hotel booking and ground service may not all follow the same cancellation conditions. Ask which portion of the payment can become non-refundable and at what stage.
4. What if the traveler changes dates?
Ask whether a date change is allowed and what costs can apply. Even when a change is permitted, the new flight or hotel may have a different price.
5. What if one traveler cancels but the rest of the group still travels?
This can affect room occupancy and therefore the price for the remaining travelers. For example, a room originally shared by four people may cost more per person if only three travel.
6. What happens if the agency changes a hotel or flight?
Ask how substitutions are handled and when you will be notified. If a major component changes, request an updated written itinerary or quote.
7. What happens if availability changes before booking is confirmed?
Many travel quotes are subject to availability. Understand whether your payment immediately confirms the services or whether the agency still needs to reconfirm specific components.
8. How are refunds processed?
If a refund is due, ask who issues it, what documentation is needed and whether different components may be refunded on different schedules. The final terms should come from the booking agency or its contract.
9. What does travel insurance cover?
If insurance is offered, review the policy itself rather than assuming every cancellation reason is covered. Coverage can vary by provider, policy and reason for cancellation.
10. Keep the final terms with your travel documents
Save the final quote, contract, payment receipts, itinerary and cancellation terms together. If something changes later, you will have the version that applied when you booked.

Compare terms, not just price
Two agencies can quote the same total amount but offer different flexibility. For travelers with children, elderly parents, uncertain vacation dates or other constraints, the more flexible option may be worth more.
